Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa and transfer to hotel

You take a direct flight from Nepal or China to reach Lhasa. During your flight from Nepal to Lhasa, you get to see stunning views of Himalayan mountains like Everest, Kanchenjunga, etc. Upon landing at Lhasa Airport, you meet with our team representative. He will escort you to the hotel and help you check in.

Today, you go on a guided sightseeing tour of monuments in Lhasa. You visit the ancient Potala Palace and Norbulingka Palace. These two palaces are also known as the Winter Palace and Summer Palace respectively. Potala Palace was built in the 17th century from where you can see the breathtaking view of the entire city. This palace houses the private quarters of the Dalai Lama whereas, the Norbulingka palace houses the largest man-made garden. You will also visit the Tibet Traditional Hospital, which is the center of training, research, treatment, and production of Tibetan medicine.

This is another day in Lhasa. The entire day is designed to take you to different tourist sites. You will Drepung monastery, which was built in the 14th century. This monastery is the largest in the world. Likewise, you visit Sera monastery, a beautiful monastery with whitewashed walls and golden roofs. Later, in the day, you visit the Jokhang monastery, a very sacred pilgrimage site in Tibet. Here, you can see the statue of Buddha Sakyamuni. The evening ends with a stroll through Barkhor Bazaar.

After having a delicious breakfast, you begin driving towards Shigatse. The drive goes along the Nimu Valley and the holy Brahmaputra river. On the way, you pass by Gyantse. Upon reaching Shigatse, you take a small break and visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. This is the home of the Panchen Lama founded by Gendun Drup, the 1st Dalai Lama in 1447. This monastery is the second largest monastery in Tibet, located on a hill.

Today, the drive will take you to Rongbuk, presenting the first glimpse of Mt. Everest. Before reaching Rongbuk, you will visit the Sakya monastery (Pel Sakya), the ancestral temple of the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism which provides access to the Buddha’s teachings. Further, you will cross Lalung La Pass and reach Rongbuk monastery, situated at the foot of Mt. Everest. This is also the highest monastery in the world. You can see a fantastic view of the north face of Mt. Everest and other surrounding mountains.

You will wake up early in the morning and drive towards the Everest Base Camp. The route to the base camp offers spectacular views of many snow-capped Himalayan mountains. On the way, you can see the marvelous Rongbuk Glacier. Upon reaching the EBC, you spend some time enjoying the view and continue driving towards Tingri.

From Tingri, you drive following the Friendship Highway and reach Kyirong. During the drive, you pass by the beautiful Peiku Tso (lake), which offers outstanding views of Shisha Pangma.

After having breakfast, you drive to Kathmandu via Rasuwagadhi. The drive will be long and offers stunning landscape views. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you head to the hotel and rest for the day.

These couple of days are for exploring Kathmandu. You will visit various UNESCO World Heritage Sites that present you with the art, architecture, history, and culture of the Nepali people.
