The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is an exciting journey that starts from Nayapul and then through the world’s deepest gorge of Kali Gandaki Region, taking you to the beautiful treeless barren land; a steep rocky trail up and down the hill. Throughout the journey, you can see the wonderful views of mountains like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna south, I, Mt.Nilgiri, Mt. Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Mt. Annapurna IV, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Machhapuchhre, and Tukuche peak.

The Jomsom Muktinath Trek is not just a trek that is famous for its jaw-dropping sceneries but for Muktinath temple as well. This temple situated at the height of 3750 m holds a very high value among the Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrimages. Thousands of devotees from all over the South Asian countries make their journey to this ‘Land of Salvation’ every year and take a bath under ice-cold water of 108 waterspouts, “Muktidhara”, considering that it brings them salvation. From Muktinath, you can have amazing scenery around as well as have a quality time in this fully pristine land.

Hiking up to Muktinath offers you to experience a variety of changes in a dramatic way within a few hours' walking distances. The diversity of flora and fauna, landscape, culture, and climate within a few hours of walking distance makes your journey very exciting throughout. Along with that, you can interact with the locals living on the trail for centuries and know more about them, their ancient traditions, interesting stories, and amazing faiths.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350 M) and transfer to hotel

One of the members of our company will welcome you at the international airport terminal gate and take you to the hotel. You will have a few hours to rest. Later, in the evening, you will meet with the tour guide in your hotel lobby. He will brief you about tomorrow's trip.

You will go on a guided sightseeing tour to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will visit one of the holiest temples of Hindus, the Pashupatinath temple. Nearby this temple is located the largest in Nepal, Boudhanath stupa. After visiting these places, you will head to Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, you will explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, meet your trek guide, and prepare for the trek. Your guide will give you a short brief about your trek.

After having breakfast, you will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The drive will be scenic and long. Enjoying beautiful views of lush green hills, rivers, waterfalls, terraced fields, and small settlements, you will reach Pokhara welcoming you with excellent views of Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Dhaulagiri, and Mt. Annapurna. In the evening, you will stroll on the Lakeside market and also do boating on tranquil Fewa Lake.

After breakfast, you will drive to Nayapul from where you will meet with the rest of the trek crew and start the trek. You will trek to Birethanti along with the Modi Khola on a dirt road crossing a bridge over Modi Khola. You will stop for checking our trek permits, and from here we will follow the left side of the Bhurungdi Khola leaving the classic Annapurna Base Camp Trek trail. Then you will gradually ascend through forested trails and pass by many small villages until reaching Tikhedhunga.

After crossing a suspension bridge over Bhurungdi Khola, you will climb steep stone steps to Ulleri. You will continue to ascend slowly through the dense rhododendron and oak forest and reach Ghorepani via lunch camp,' Banthati'. The original name of Ghorepani was Ghodepani where Ghode means a horse and Pani means water.  It used to be an important campsite for horse traders before it became one of the important trekking points of the Annapurna region.  The beautiful view of the Annapurna range can be seen from here.

Early in the morning, you will climb to Poon Hill for the 360-degree stunning views of the majestic Himalayan peaks like Annapurna (1,2,3&4), Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre (Fishtail), and the beautiful sunrise as well.  After spending some time, you will descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and start your trek to Tatopani. The trail will descend down passing through the forest and crossing several villages like Chitre, Palate, Shikka, and Ghara. You will have to walk on the rugged vehicle roads in some parts as well. And finally, after crossing the last suspension bridge over the Kali Gandaki river, you will arrive at Tatopani where you can enjoy the natural hot spring water.

Today you will drive to Marpha because there is no alternative route except the road which is pretty dusty. You will drive on a rugged road alongside the Kali Gandaki River’s Valley. You will drive through several beautiful villages mainly Ghasa, Kalopani, Larjung, Tukuche, etc. along the Kali Gandaki Valley. Starting from Ghasa, you will be officially in the Mustang district and from Larjung you can see the changes in the landscape, settlements, and cultures as well. Finally, you will arrive at Marpha where you can see lots of Apple plantations.

The trail today will be along the Kali Gandaki valley with an awesome view and crossing beautiful several villages like Syang, Jomsom, and Eklai Bhatti finally reaching Kagbeni. And it is quite windy during the day. It is one of the important villages of the Mustang region lying at the edge of the Kali Gandaki river. It is the gateway to the last forbidden kingdom of Upper Mustang.

After breakfast, you will begin your trek to Muktinath, a pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. You will take a mild ascend to Khingar and then to Jharkot where you will take lunch. After lunch, you will visit the old monastery and continue the trek to Muktinath where you will visit the holy site of the Hindus and Buddhists.

Today, you will explore the surrounding areas of Muktinath like the Dzong (Jhong) village and Chungur village.  At Dzong, you will visit the centuries-old castle situated on a hill and the monasteries as well.

Leaving Muktinath behind, you will trek to Lubra village via Lubra Pass. From the pass, you can see the beautiful views of the Himalayas. Lubra village is a small village that is the only village to have the Pre-Buddhism practices known as 'Bon Po'. From there, you will cross a river and descend until reaching a river and continue to Jomsom for the night's stay.

Today, early in the morning, you will fly back to Pokhara. The flight will be short and you will get to see an outstanding landscape view during the flight. Upon reaching Pokhara airport, you will head to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore around.
