Limi Valley Trek

Duration: 22 Days

About Limi Valley Trek

The Limi Valley Trek is 2 weeks of pure wilderness experience in the far West of Nepal near the Nepal-Tibet (China) border. Located in the district of Humla deep behind the Himalayas and cut off from the outer world, it’s one of the most remote and less visited places in Nepal. Some of the trails are part of the Kailash Mansarovar Trek route as well which leads to Tibet. The total trip duration of this trek from Kathmandu to Kathmandu is 22 days.

The Limi Valley Trek is a wonderful opportunity to discover the trans-Himalayan region of far west Nepal. It was opened to foreign visitors only in 2002 under the provision that visitors can only enter with special permits. Due to these steps taken by the Nepal government and the remote location, the people around here have been able to preserve their culture and environment in pristine form till today. The culture and natural landscapes of this valley are to a great extent similar to Tibet. Tibetan Buddhism is widely practiced in this region. The trek passes through quiet villages, rivers, waterfalls, Buddhist prayer flags, mani walls, chortens, stupas, and tranquil valleys. Interacting with the local people while exploring the remote valleys rich in wildlife and vegetation, it can't get any better than this.

On this trek, visitors can observe the magnificent views of Saipal, Byas, Rishi, Api, Kanjirowa, and Kanti Himal which is literally a visual feast to the eyes. And with an extension of a couple of days' treks to Lapche La Pass, one can see the holy mountain of Kailash located in Tibet as well. Himalayan blue sheep, Jackals, Kiang (Tibetan wild ass), and Musk deer can be spotted during the trek. Encounters with Yaks, Yaks herders and nomads, and Mules are also common on the trails while passing through the rivers and open valleys.
