About Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trek is a short beautiful trekking route located east of Annapurna Base Camp and north of Pokhara. This trek is best for trekkers who are looking for an alternative to the busy trails around the Annapurna region in a short period. It is a peaceful and enjoyable trail that can be done in a week's trek.  

The Mardi Himal Trek passes through the ridge, dense rhododendron forests, and small villages presenting great panoramic views of Pokhara valley, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna (I, II, III), Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, and Manaslu ranges. Places like High Camp (3700 M) and Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500 M) offer great views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. The trek starts from Kande which is an hour's drive from Pokhara. Moreover, In Sidhing village, you will have the opportunity to experience the local culture and traditions by living in a community homestay. The trek ends at Lumre from where will drive to the magnificent lake town of Pokhara. The highest point of this trek is the Mardi Himal Base Camp which is at an altitude of 4500 meters from sea level.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350 M) and transfer to hotel

One of the members of our company will welcome you at the international airport terminal gate and take you to the hotel. You will have a few hours to rest. Later, in the evening, you will meet with the tour guide in your hotel lobby. He will brief you about tomorrow's day trip.

You will go on a guided sightseeing tour to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will visit one of the holiest temples of Hindus, the Pashupatinath temple. Nearby this temple is located the largest in Nepal, Boudhanath stupa. After visiting these places, you will head to Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, you will meet with your guide who will brief you about the trekking program.

After having breakfast, you will drive to Pokhara, the beautiful lake city. From Pokhara, you will continue driving towards Kande. Upon reaching Kande, you will take a small break and begin towards Australian Camp. Trekking through the forested trail, you will reach camp for the night's stay.

The trail will go through the dense forest of rhododendron and many small villages. Today, the trail will go to be short and peaceful. Trekking on a forested trail, you will reach Forest Camp where you will stay for the night.

After having breakfast, you will ascend gradually through the beautiful rhododendron forest. On the way, you will get to see striking views of Mardi Himal and Mt. Machhapuchhre. Trekking through the forested trail, you will reach Low Camp where you will spend today's night.

Ascending along the ridge, you will move towards High Camp. The trail will present beautiful views of Mardi Himal, Mt. Machhapuchhre, Mt. Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South. You will reach Badal Danda and leaving the tree line behind, you will arrive at High Camp.

Today, you will wake up early in the morning and begin ascending a steep trail. The trail will be rocky and uneven in some sections. After a couple of hours of climbing, you will reach a ridge top known as Mardi Himal Base Camp. From here, you will again ascend for another two hours and reach the main base camp of Mardi Himal. Upon reaching here, you will get to observe wonderful views of the Himalayan mountains and Himalayan scenery.

Following a different route after low camp, you will trek down to Siding village. The trail will go through lush forests. In Sidhing village, you will get to see the lifestyle, culture, and traditions of the locals.

After having a warm breakfast, you will descend to Lumre then drive to Pokhara.

After having breakfast, you will drive to Kathmandu. The drive will be scenic and present a countryside view. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you will move to your hotel. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company.
