Rara Lake Trek

Duration: 15 Days

About Rara Lake Trek

Rara Lake Trek will take you to the far west of Nepal around Jumla and Mugu district. The main highlight of this trek is Rara Lake itself. Known as the largest lake in Nepal, Rara Lake is located at 2,990 meters above the sea level. Rara Lake Trek will give you a chance to explore and experience pristine nature and the rich culture of this region. During the trek, you will also walk on trodden paths. This lake comes inside the Rara National Park, which is home to several rare wildlife like Musk Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Himalayan Ghoral, Red Panda, and numerous species of birds. Moreover, Snow Trout is the only species of fish, you will find in this lake.

During the trek, you will pass by various lush forests along with enjoying marvelous views of the Himalayan mountains. The words of Bill Greer, founder of the Great Outdoors Recreation Pages has best describe the beauty of Rara Lake, "a shimmering blue jewel set in a ring of snowy peaks”. We, YAK RU ADVENTURE have designed our Rara Lake Trek itinerary with enough attention to make your journey memorable. We also design tailor-made Rara Lake Trek itinerary, therefore feel free to share your requirements with us.

Rara Lake Trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Jumla. From Jumla, you will begin trekking towards Daanphe Lagna. The trail then passes by Chautha and Dhotu, and lead you to Rara Lake. Spending a day here, you will cross Murma Top, and descend to Gorusingha.
